NEWARK, Del., Nov 21, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- American parents report they anticipate holiday budgets similar to last year and most will stretch their spending by shopping early and looking for deals, according to a survey of parents conducted by Upromise by Sallie Mae. Black Friday Bargain Shoppers represent 22 percent, Under the Wires 11 percent, and Big Spenders are a rarity this year at 4 percent.

Many parents prefer practical presents for their children such as clothing (54 percent) and gift certificates (43 percent) or meaningful gifts of money for college (34 percent). In fact, 60 percent said they sometimes worry their kids get too much stuff and would prefer they received gifts that are more meaningful.

When You're Buying Your Credit Reports – Figuring Out The Correct ...

Free credit reports are given to consumers according to Federal law…1 every year. Since it is a free service, you only get the bare minimum in the print out, and you do not typically receive your credit score. If you are preparing to purchase a home or repair your credit, then you want a purchased credit report since it contains more detail and most vitally, your FICO score. Let me commence from the beginning…

A credit report is a seven to 10 year historical past of your lines of credit, payment history, court ordered judgments and bad debts that have gone into default. Your FICO score is a numerical value that is assigned to your exclusive credit history, based on the data within the credit reports. While there are other credit scoring designs, the FICO score is the only one that matters. Typically, the only way to acquire your FICO score is by getting a paid credit report. If you are beginning the credit restoration process, the only way to accurately measure your success in fixing your credit is to acquire your FICO score before you begin to repair your credit AND six months after you have fixed the mistakes on each credit report.
